模型，實際上是一種將實物按一定比例仿真縮小或自我創(chuàng)作、拼裝的作品，主要分為動態(tài)模型和靜態(tài)模型兩大類。動態(tài)模型如我們常見的航空、航海的遙控模型，還有可活動的車輛模型；靜態(tài)模型集觀賞性、仿真性、可作情景展示于一體，包括科幻、主題、情景和軍事模型。在模型這個圈子中，玩家們認(rèn)為兩者有本質(zhì)的區(qū)別，動模以過程來詮釋美，而靜態(tài)模型藝術(shù)是必須化為終“作品”的。這或許是兩者玩法的不同，但同時亦是根本的出入。
